Any Idea?

Thank you

Anonymous said...

Sorry i downloaded the wrong file.
We should download the combo update.

Thank you everyone

vinay prashar said...

Anonymous Thanx for showing interest in my blog.
What i want to clarify to you is that you are on 10.5.2 so update to 10.5.3 first and then to 10.5.4 then try to 10.5.5 you can't jump out of sequence.

Happy Hacking..........

Digg it it is must.............

i tried, but now i can't boot.

i get a kernel panic:

"Unable to find driver for this platform: \"ACPI\".\N"@/SOURCECHACHE/XNU/XNU-1228.7.58/iokit/Kernel/IOPLATFORMEXPERT.CPP:1407

Possible to fix this? tnx!

vinay prashar said...

Mention your Distro current version.

i think u must check

1 ACPI Enabled or Disabled in your BIOS setting.

2 Use "-v -x -f" boot flags. Trying to boot into installed system now..

3 I think you are using vanilla kernel (original from apple) without EFI pach installed, don't you?

mdk74 said...

Ah, i had Kalyway 10.5.2 installed. Stupid me.

EFI was installed btw.

Do i need to re-install osx completely now?

tnx, micha

I have Kalyway 10.5.2 Installed and no way of backing up my system using time machine.

I am on a Core 2 Duo, using Apple's Vanilla Kernel, i read somewhere that i can directly update my system through apple's system update.can i ?

also, will the above method be safe so that i dont lose my data.

vinay prashar said...

Except direct update from apple you can do evry thing.

You are on 10.5.2 so first of all update to 10.5.3 kalyway patched update.

a 10.5.3 can be updated to 10.5.4by apple upate directly without any modification but from 10.5.4 to 10.5.5 again follow this guide.

Time machine works fine on hackintosh.

Udit Agarwal said...

i downloaded the combo update. should i follow your method above and directly update to 10.5.5 from my 10.5.2.

vinay prashar said...

The update you downloaded that is for 10.5.4 to 10.5.5 but you are on 10.5.2 so first of all you have to download 10.5.3 kalyway patched combo update find it on any popular torrent site.

then update to 10.5.4 without any modification after now u are able to update 10.5.5 this is only procedure for updating.

don't try to update 10.5.2 to 10.5.5 directly..........

vinay prashar said...

Yes you can if you are on INTEL system then this is the only procedure for updating your hackintosh.

Meanwhile pcwiz introduced their new tool for automatic updating and some more feature's......

Please help!

Hi there I am newbie and are trying to get this working. I am quite sure I am doing something wrong.

1.
I have installed KalyWay 10.5.2 and this works great.

2.
I would like to upgrade to 10.5.5 so as I can read i need to update to 10.5.3 then 10.5.4 and last 10.5.5.

So i have downloaded Kalyway combo update and first i go to the terminal and type exact:

while sleep 1;
do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext; done

And then hit Enter. I am not sure the script is running but I can't find more information concerning this.

Then I install the first part of the combo update. The installation finish and I now want to stop the scrip from the terminal but I get a gray screen saying
'You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart Button'

When i get this information on the sceen i can not do anythink the mouse, keyboard is disabled so I need to restart and then nothing happens..

So I must restall Kalyway 10.5.2 again..

Can anyone help me???

Thank you..

Snowman

Hi Lars

kalyway hackintosh10.5.3 combo update for sse3 intel only !

READ Carefully !!!!

1- install comboupdate ! don't restart !

2- install kalyway kernel pkg ! choose kernel you need for your pc ! (if you want keep your old 9.2 kernel so install this pkg without selecting 9.3 kernel !!!)

3- reboot and type update -v and cross the fingers !if you stuck at bsd root after reboot ! so type "update -v" without quote at f8 darwin prompt ! it should work !caution :

you may experienced boot problem related to gfx card ! especially with 7xxx nvidia series and ati ! if happen type -v -x

Hi Vinay,

Yes but the problem is when i have installed the first part of the combo update and all is finished and the restart button apear, (I do not click this one) then after one second there is sliding a gray screnn in the front saying:

'You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart Button'

And when this message apear the mouse and keyboard is disabled.

Then I can do nothing.

Do you understand my problem?

vinay prashar said...

yboard & mouse freeze than you can only try force restart & see what happens what is your system configuration.which graphic card do you have.

Lars said...

Hi Vinay,

Sorry about my poor formulation, I will try one more time.

When the installation complete first part of Kalyway combo update, then one second later there slide a transparrent window in the front. This window has this information.

'You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart Button'

Do you understand my problem?

vinay prashar said...

Dear Lars.

Your keyboard & Mouse freeze's for restart you dont need these.

Just press & hold power button which is in front of your pc cabinet along with restart button.or press restart button from pc cabinet manually.

Got it..........

Lars said...

Hi Vinay,

I know how to restart my PC. But I do not wich that, i need to install the second part of the Kalyway combo update before restarting. My problem is I can not because the Keyboard and mouse gets disabled when the gray transparent screen apears.

My question is, why do I get the Gray screen, is ther a work around?

I have a Dell XPS m1730. I installed using iAtkos 10.5.4 DVD. I installed checking the following boxes to customize.

iATKOS v4i Main System
Darwin Bootloader
Stock Files
AppleACPIPlatform.kext
Kernel 9.4.0

Drivers
VGA
nVidia
Nvinject
256MB
512MB
nVidiaLaptop

System
SATA

Using the above settings I was able to successfully boot to the OS X desktop.
I then attempted to update to 10.5.5 using the below guide (there are notes in * * next to problems I had):

Open Finder and navigate to /System/Library/Extensions/

Open Terminal

Type sudo -s in Terminal
{password} [enter]

Copy paste this into Terminal

while sleep 1; do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext; done [enter]

Open the .dmg UPDATER file and install

When the install finishes DO NOT click REBOOT!

Go back to your Finder window and make sure AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext is not there.

*It was not there.*

Go back to the Terminal and do Ctrl + c

Type this in Teminal

open -a TextEdit [enter]

*TextEdit did not open. Opened the file using nano.*

In TextEdit Open the file /System/InstallAtStartup/scripts/1

Modify the line

/System/Library/Extensions/Dont Steal Mac OS X.kext

*This line was not present*

to

/System/Library/Extensions/dsmos.kext

Save the file.

I then restarted the computer. On the first reboot it automatically restarted, on the second reboot it locked up.

I am able to boot to a desktop if I boot using the option -x. If I go to about this mac it shows "version 10.5.5"

I am not sure what to do at this point. Is there a way to find out why it will not boot into normal mode? Thanks for any help.
