According to NETKAS if you have Vanila or Non hacked Kernel than you have to Patch your’s DSDT so follow this guide for patching DSDT.
According to PCWIZ hacked kernel like Voodoo , Fassl , TOH etc does not need any DSDT patching so if you also have a non hacked kernel than follow this guide.
Upgrade your hackintosh to 10.5.6 you need following stuff.
| Download Universal OSX86 Installer Click here and install PC EFI-V9 Download 10.5.6 Combo Update from here. For 10.5.1 to 10.5.4 Download 10.5.6 Update from here. For 10.5.5 only |

thanks for the guide. worked just fine for me, didnt see any Dont Steal Mac OS kexts in the 'install at startup' to replace. had to drop in some kexts for the keyboard and trackpad and all was good on my acer 3680.
Hi, thanks for the guide. I currently have a nicely running 10.5.4 system with vanilla 9.4.0 kernel which was achieved using the kalyway 10.5.1 + kalyway 10.5.3 combo update + Apple 10.5.4 delta update. What is the best way to update this to 10.5.6?
Also, do I have to go through 10.5.4 -> 10.5.5 -> 10.5.6 or can I go straight from 10.5.4 -> 10.5.6?
My specs are:
GA-P35-DS3P mobo with an Intel Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz, 4Gb RAM and an nVidia GeForce 7300GS.
Thanks for any help!
@ Isaac Lim i suggested you to go through 10.5.4 >> 10.5.5 >> 10.5.6
for 10.5.4 to 10.5.5 use this guide & for updating to 10.5.6 follow this guide @ http://ihackintosh.blogspot.com/2008/12/prepare-your-hackintosh-for-updating-to.html

Gray screen occurs when AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext is not removed properly.
Hello, I follow your guide step by step, but when I reboot using -v I see a yellow line "Failed to load extension Com.orbyte.driver.pcgenusbehci" "Extension com.jmicron.jmicronata has no explicit kernel dependency; using version 6.0" and at the end countinue to say " Still waitind for root device"
Appleintelcpupowermanagement is correctly renamed.
Can you help me?
@ Gelo
did you try -F safe mode it seems that permission's are not repaired correctly.
Post your hardware software detail.
This is my configuration:
MoBo: Asus P5K
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Memoria: 2x 2 Gb Kingston DDR2 800
HD: Hitachi Sata 160 Gb (Leo Kalyway)
HD: Maxtor Sata 80 Gb (Win Vista Ultimate)
Masterizzatore DVD LG Sata
Everything works well before "upgrade": I had Leo 10.5.4
I tray with -f too, but it doesn't work.
P.s. I'm italian, excuse me for my english.. ^^'
Your script for removing IntelCPUPowermanagement.kext didn't work for me...
For the last four updates I've used
"while sleep 1 ; do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext ; done"
(all together, no quotation marks) and it works. I tried yours... and my pc locked up during install and basically crashed.
Thanks for the guide and link to the tools though.
I googled how to delete appleintelcpupowermanagement from the install disk.
(if anyone is wondering, you open the disk, select the language, go to utilities, open terminal, type "cd /volumes/-insert installed OSX drive name here-/system/library/extensions/"
then you type "rm -r AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement.kext"
Don't typo... I learned the hard way (about five times) that typos will not fix anything similar to this when typing these commands.
Thanks, that worked for me! I had to reinstall AppleHDA.kext, but the rest worked without a flaw. :-)
Thanks most if this worked for my but I have experience a coupe issues.
System: HP DV2500 Laptop
Ram: 4GB
CPU: Core 2 Duo 2.2 or 2.0
I upgraded from 5.1 Kalway to 5.6
1. My Laptop Keyboard and Mouse would not work (usb keyboard and mouse worked fine)
* When i replaced the kext using the osx86tools from the backed up kext 5.1 this worked fine.
* Does replacing the kext from an earlier version cause any problems?
2. I'm experiencing a UI refresh lag when I move a window it goes transparent and take a minute or two to be visible, it's like the paint/refresh commands are working.
* can i disable transparency when moving window or something?
* the laptop contains Nvidia 8400M GS card I believe.
@ Anonymous yes you can use kext from older versions. For UI problem update your graphic driver for NVIDIA download from diabolik

I have successfully updated 10.5.2 to 10.5.6 with this method. Following the additional advice of upgrading first to 10.5.3 then to 10.5.4.
However, as a special note for dual booters (especially xp), installing EFI V9 will cause the xp bootloader to fail. So, it is advisable to upgrade the bootloader using vista bootloader via (EasyBCD).
Steps:
(1) You will need access to a machine with Vista on it and copy C:\Windows\Boot directory to your xp partition on the same directory
(2) run EasyBCD and point Vista files to your xp partition
(3) restart your computer and you will have three options: Vista / XP / OSX86; of course, Vista option will lead to nowhere (just remove it).
After I updated my osx86, the whole system wouldn't start. So, I created an XP installer on USB using USB_Multiboot_10, and log in to my windows partition from which I executed the above steps.
This has been the most easy to understand 10.5.6 update.
how do you know wat kernell u are using
Hi Vinay,
I'm having trouble with network access on my laptop.
I have the intel 4965 bgn wireless card and have been unable to get internet access. Is there a USB wireless card that you would recommend, or help with the drivers for 4965
2. The CPU Powersaver mode is not working and my HPdv2600 heats up like a ***** any help is appreciated.
After installing the update and not restarting, I cant open anything, including osx86tools or terminal.
help?
I'm in the same boat. I can't open anything (osx86tools, terminal, not even safari). so I'm stuck with the update installer window asking me to restart. might have to give up, since in 2 hours I have to be back in Vista to do work. :/
I've followed your instructions up to the second phase. How do I know if osx86 is working or not?
I've put a check on repair permissions, on set extensions permissions, and clear extensions cache. Afterwards, I clicked on run selected tasks. Nothing happened. Should something happen?
I went ahead and restarted. Wham! system crash. HELP!
Just like tjlabais I am updating from 10.5.2 to 10.5.6.
I did as he did update to 10.5.3 and the update went well, only that it rebooted and I was unable to run the kernel pkg.
now it stays stuck on the apple logo, (left it overnight) and when I go into -v it reboots itself over and over.
I will be trying again right now, If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to let me know.
Thank you so much for the simple and well written install guide. Hard to find these days.
Hi this guide works fine with acer aspire 3690? i'm afraid to upgrade my 10.5.5 to 10.5.6.
any one made the SD reader work on the dell 1525? there is an iosdhc kext going around i tried it but it did not work
Thanks for this guide; worked flawlessly with Kalyway 10.5.2, applied dsdt patch, and upgraded. Had to manually edit Azalia.kext to get sound to work but no big deal (have the dreaded AD1988a chip)..
Thanks again
Hello. Thanks for the guide. I upgrade from iATKOS 1.0 (10.5.1) following this guide, and it work fine. But, my laptop keyboard no longer work.
Reading some of the comment here, it seems I can use older kext, but I have no idea how to get the kext. Any pointer will be much appreciated.
I don't think my last comment got posted but I've been having some trouble getting this update to work and hope someone can help.
I have kalyway leopard 10.5.1 and have been trying to update to 10.5.6
I've gotten as far as typing "while sleep 1 ; do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext ; done" in the terminal than starting the update. Then the terminal starts showing a message about the appleintelcpupowermanagement.kext and permission denied, than the computer will lock up and I restart to the restart/shut down loop. I'm very new to this and could use some help. Please.
Also is it possible to go straight from 10.5.1 to 10.5.6?
I upgraded direct from 10.5.1 - 10.5.6 using this guide. First attempt failed as I didn't do the DSDT patch beforehand (patch download site had update saying 'probably don't need it' but I think I did.
Only bad thing is I have lost my hardware identifyers for some reason? Machine doesn't know what CPU I have etc. so am looking to solve that but for now, thanks a lot and very happy!
Just upgraded to 10.5.4 from Kalyway 10.5.2-10.5.3 - have now lost half my USB and also laptop power display - everything else seems to be as it was.
Asus F8SG - T8300 - 9300m nvidia - any help on getting these back and how to input sudo commands etc to upgrade to 10.5.6 much appreciated as very new at this - thanks - bonus if any additional support on getting the intel wireless / or sonix cam to work would be awesome too ;)
Hi everyone, thanks a lot for this useful guide!! It worked almost fine for me just until the reboot because I'm stocked now with an empty blue screen, do you know what happened? Any solution? I read somewhere it was because the graphics card.
